HEIC is Apple's default since iOS 11. It's efficient on your phone but Windows, Android, and most web platforms don't support it. PNG is universal — it opens everywhere with no extra software, and being lossless means zero quality loss.
PNG is lossless — perfect for screenshots, graphics with text, or any image where pixel-perfect quality matters. Choose JPG if you need the smallest file size and are sharing photos where minor compression is acceptable.
