Why does my drive show less space?
Drive makers use decimal (1 KB = 1,000 bytes). Your OS uses binary (1 KB = 1,024 bytes). A "1 TB" drive holds 1,000,000,000,000 bytes — your OS reports that as about 931 GB.
What is the difference between MB and MiB?
MB (megabyte) can mean either 1,000,000 or 1,048,576 bytes depending on context. MiB (mebibyte) always means 1,048,576 bytes. This tool uses the binary definition.
