Why not 7 dog years?
The "1 dog year = 7 human years" rule is a myth. Dogs age extremely fast in their first two years — a 1-year-old dog is roughly equivalent to a 15-year-old human. After that, aging slows and varies significantly by breed size.
Why do big dogs age faster?
Larger breeds grow faster and their bodies experience more cellular stress, leading to earlier aging. A 10-year-old Great Dane is in the final stage of life, while a 10-year-old Chihuahua may still have several healthy years ahead.
